Join Us: Fractional Chief of Staff (3-6 Month Contract, Potential to Grow)

We’re building something big at Helia. Want to help shape it?

Helia is built to be the go-to partner when organizations and leaders need help figuring out how to make big ideas happen. We share practical tools, connect brilliant people, and provide hands-on support to move things forward. A huge part of this is curating, shaping, and delivering knowledge in ways that actually help people.

We’re in an exciting early stage—building, refining, and expanding what Helia can be. And we know things are always best in partnership. That’s where this role comes in.

We’re imagining folks with background in product, design and/or L+D along with generalists and former/aspiring Chief of Staffs that are generally “yes AND….” folks excited about the very early days of building a new product/company.

Why This Role Matters

This is a chance to build alongside me (Jess, Helia’s founding partner) and help shape how Helia functions—both behind the scenes and in the way we deliver value to others. I’m looking for my own partner in how—someone who can see the big picture, dive into the details, and help bring everything to life.

We’re pulling together an incredible group of contractors, partners, and collaborators to make this happen. You’ll be at the center of it all—helping to structure, connect, and execute the work that will bring Helia to the next level.

What You’ll Do

Own & Build Key Systems

  • Think Like a Product Builder – Help figure out how we structure, design, and deliver the Helia Library and other knowledge-sharing efforts to be high-value and easy to use.

  • Improve UX Everywhere – From systems to content to how people experience Helia, you’ve got an eye for making things work beautifully.

  • Lead the development of our Notion, website, and other technology to keep things smooth, scalable, and actually useful

Content Development + Management -

  • Shape & Deliver Knowledge – Help turn insights into action—curate, package, and refine frameworks, resources, and tools that organizations can use.

  • Write & Edit – Help draft and refine content so it’s clear, engaging, and actually helpful—whether it’s a resource guide, case study, or practical playbook.

Company Building-

  • See the Big Picture & the Details – Work with me as a thought partner while also jumping in and figuring things out.

  • Operations - Own + manage the back-end of a starting business; we have the initial systems and infrastructure and want someone to take the reins.

  • Hire & Manage Contractors – Where needed, help identify and manage the right partners to bring everything to life.

Who You’ll Work With

Me (Jess, Helia’s founder) – I’ve spent my career figuring out how to make things work, and now I’m building Helia to share that with others. This role is a chance to partner closely with me to shape, build, and execute the next phase of this work.

A growing network of brilliant collaborators – We’re assembling the right team to bring Helia to life. You’ll help connect the dots, structure the work, and make things happen.

Who You Are

  • A natural problem-solver—you love figuring things out and making things better.

  • A systems thinker—you can build and streamline processes that actually work.

  • A strong writer & editor—you know how to make things clear, engaging, and actionable.

  • Product-minded—you think about how knowledge and resources get designed, delivered, and used in ways that are valuable and intuitive.

  • Tech-savvy—comfortable with Notion, AI tools, and no-code platforms (or excited to learn).

  • Comfortable with ambiguity—you like the scrappy, early-stage build phase.

  • Excited about learning & development—you care about how people learn and grow and want to build tools that make that easier.

The Logistics

  • Part-time, flexible (3-6 month contract to start)

  • Room to grow – could expand into an FTE, equity, or partnership role

  • Remote-first (with some real-time collaborating vs. async-only)
